Our time in South America now at an end, we had one day in Lima before flying to Los Angeles.
We stayed in between the San Isidro and Miraflores neighbourhoods. Walking along the manicured clifftop promenade offered up sweeping views up and down the beachfront.
It was a strange feeling to get our first look at the Pacific Ocean since Valparaiso in December.
Our walk continued back through San Isidro and Miraflores (we were enjoying sea level). We rewarded ourselves by settling down for lunch at La Mar.
We had waited outside for the restaurant to open which was just as well because no sooner had we started to eat than the place was full. Ceviche and grilled octopus were two highlights for us, washed down with a couple of Pisco Sours!
Due to our time constraints in Lima we decided to head for the central district. We were met with heat, dust and noise that were all too much for our countrified souls. We fled to the park next to the National Gallery that was sadly closed, so a post-lunch nap was in order.
Short and sweet, Lima was a big shock for us after so many months on the altiplano.
